3 reasons why people don’t come to church…

There are so many reasons people do not come to church, there are also many excuses people give to get out of coming to church. Here are some of the reasons I think we should consider…

1) “I haven’t been asked”
It’s surprising how many people haven’t been invited to church. In a recent survey of christians in the UK, it was discovered that over 70% came to church and faith as a result of a friends invitiation to church.

2) “I am not the church type”
In TV when an actor is typecast, it means TV producers and Exec’s are unable to picture him in a TV show or film which is different from his previous roles. What is the churchy type? It’s time to consider whether Christians have been type cast. Have we contributed to being typecast?

 3) “I don’t believe in God”
You’ll find most people do have some belief in God to some degree, they may express it in a different religion, but the majority of people believe in God, they try to seek him in different places. Have we made belief in God a requirement for attending church? Have we given people the impression that church is only for Christians? In Scripture we see that the Church is for the entire planet. Perhaps we have wrapped God up in religion?

Perhaps we have made people feel that church has no value, perhaps we need to consider adding value to church so that people of no faith can come and discover something about God and something they can use to help their daily lives.

In Scripture the believers encouraged each other as they met together, perhaps, we need to do less singing and preaching and a bit more encouraging? What do you think?
