Restructuring
All businesses restructure at some point in their existence. In the beginnings of a new business change is simpler and easier to achieve. When a business has been established and working practices are developed this process of change can be more painful and difficult.
Any business should be constantly developing and assesing its position. Sometimes this gives rise to a need for resturcturing or changing the way an organisation works to achieve its goals.
Restructuring can come on the agenda for a number of reasons, organisations generally feel some pressure in one of the following areas.
- GROWTH PRESSURE
- FINANCIAL PRESSURE
- CLIENT PRESSURE
- STAFF PRESSURE
These sources of pressure do not necessarily set off big alarms as many organisation can handle degrees of pressure, the key is looking at which pressures are manageable and which pressures are culmulative.
As an example if Joe Bloggs Ltd are in fiercly competitive markets and they have recently lost out on some major contracts because of price, they may decide that they need to consider some form of restructuring to reduce the cost base and increase their competitiveness in the market place.
Joe Bloggs Ltd may then automate some of their administration, change the way their sales department works and negotiate with suppliers for better raw material costs. Joe Bloggs may also may after a review of their posiiton, decide to reduce the head count.
The key to any form of resturcturing is to consider the bigger picture, review the business and see what can be achieved and also discover what areas are crucial to the success of your business.
We assist clients aross the UK in reviewing their operations, making an assessment of their pressures and determining if restructuring is a prudent course of action. For more information, please call 0207 183 5447
